The Hot Summer of 2003

Hampstead's early-August heatwave was truly exceptional. On the 5th August the previous record of 34.6ºC established on 3rd August 1990 was broken when the temperature climbed to 35.2ºC. But this new record was only to last five days; 10th August was even hotter, and the maximum for the day was 37.4ºC.
